Rod Brind’Amour of the Carolina Hurricanes has torn the ACL in his left knee and will be out for 4-6 months ending his season.  This is a big blow for the Hurricanes who are fighting for a post season berth.  He was leading the team with 51 points before this setback occurred.

Brind’Amour has been the captain of the Hurricanes and heart and sole of the franchise.  He lead them to the Stanley Cup two years ago.

Ottawa Adds to Scoring Depth

The Ottawa Senators and Carolina Hurricanes have completed a four player deal that sees two players per team going each way.  Ottawa is sending Joe Corvo and Patrick Eaves to the Hurricanes for Mike Commodore and Cory Stillman.

This will help give Ottawa some secondary scoring so their big three are not required to score every goal for the Sens.  Both Stillman and Commodore are unrestricted free agents at seasons end so this could be a rent-a-player scenario for Ottawa.

They both provide Ottawa with Stanley Cup finals experience which should help Ottawa in the playoffs this season.

Carolina gets some solid young players that should help with the offense and get them into the playoffs.
